Christian Education

Children's Sunday School
In parallel with the school year, volunteers from our congregation educate our children on the Bible, its teachings and our life with Christ. All children ages 3 through 8th grade are invited to attend classes at 10:30 AM, Sunday mornings in the Parish House. The Sunday school runs in 5 "blocks" of about six weeks each, and the classes are divided into groups by grade level as follows: Pre-K, Kindergarten/1st grade, 2nd/3rd grade, 4th/5th grade, 6th - 8th grade.

At St. Augustine's, we have put together our own curriculum, blending stories from the Old Testament, the Gospels, Church History, and the experience of our liturgies.  We are happy to announce that the introduction of the new curriculum has been a huge hit with teachers and students alike.  Of course, we always need help.  For more information, or to help, please call the parish office or our Sunday School Coordinator, Mrs. Marie Fabian.

Adult Education
Sessions are run on an irregular schedule, usually taking place in the Parish House. Time and dates of the next cycle of classes will be posted once they have been announced. Please contact Deacon Keith with suggestions for possible topics of study.  Recent topics have included the Gospel of Mark and a history of the King James Bible.

Bible Study/Book Group
A forum for adults to engage in Bible Study discussions rooted in the scriptures used in upcoming services as well as book group conversations on texts chosen for their spiritual or theological interest.

Education for Ministry - Every Christian receives the call to Christ's ministry at baptism. Education for Ministry provides the basics of a theological education in order to develop knowledge and confidence about the ministry we all share.

EFM is a distance learning program of the School of Theology of the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. Completion of the program takes four years, during which participants study the Bible, church history, and twentieth century theology. Participants commit one year at a time to meet weekly in seminars led by a trained mentor. Participants can expect to do 2-4 hours of homework per week outside of the seminar. EFM requires prior registration. Please contact Penny Morgan or the parish office for more information.

Youth and Adult Confirmation/Inquirer's class
A Youth and Adult Confirmation / Inquirer's class will be held in the fall of 2012 for those in 9th grade and above. Classes are conducted for those who wish to confirm their faith in the church of their Baptism, or who wish to be received into this church from another faith. Father Brad welcomes parents of prospective Confirmants to contact him to ask questions or discuss the process.
